Wondering about the title? A Runthusiast is person who is
very interested and passionate about the particular sport ‘running’. One such Runthusiast is the fifty-four
year old Sandeep Kulkarni, the co-founder and a core-team member of the Bavdhan
Brigade group. He believes that “Running is nothing more than a series of
arguments between the part of your brain that wants to keep
going and the other part that wants to stop”.
He realized the risks of
high cholesterol and blood pressure which were the common problems in his
family. As an individual he started aerobic exercises in his residential area,
Bavdhan. Gradually the years passed by and he met a few friends who later
turned into his running partners for years to come. In 2016, the group “Bavdhan
Brigade” was born with only a few members and gradually grew up to a 50+
members running squad.
Today, Mr. Sandeep a professional marathoner can run up to
50+ kilometers in one go. He has completed numerous full and half marathons
across India in different climatic and geological conditions. The main aim of
the group formed by him is to encourage, inspire and motivate people of all
ages and backgrounds to improve their mental and physical health through
running.
The most highlighted strength that he has is being
self-focused and ready to learn and teach new techniques or solutions to
different problems. He promotes the fact of bare-feet running as the most
beneficial by not just learning it from others, but by self-experimentation. He
conducts sessions regarding the benefits of running and how to overcome
difficulties that we face while running. He gives personal assistance to the
people in need of guidance. He has also researched in aerobic training.
For Mr. Sandeep every marathon is a new story that he adds to
his book of life. He is always focused and extremely passionate towards his
hobby and has completed around 11000+ kilometers of running till now and plans
to continue in the coming years.
Thus to conclude, one can truly call him a diehard Runthusiast.
